About Me

~ PING TING

Nineteen. Currently taking a part-time Interior Designing course at NAFA, and aspiring to be an interior designer in future. Mad love for chick flicks (Yes, I'm quite a girly girl) and I love to dream. Before the world ends, I want to get married so I won't die alone, heh. Peace out. ^o^

Yesterday was a really good day. Kinda, though some unlucky events happened later in the day, but it turned out well. :)
Wore t-shirt to work -- first time in my 4 months of teaching. Nothing much happened with the kids, except 1D as usual. :/ And I didn't give some 1G children erasers cos they were running around. I felt a bit bad, one of my fave classes and the children were really adorable, especially Duane. WHY HE RUN AROUND.
Misfortune #1 -- I was at 1D and suddenly 周老师 came to tell me that I need to do the art holistic portfolio assessment thing for 1L. Chionged like siao at 6PM cos I had to do the photocopying and punching holes also (other class' FTs did those). Oh yea, plus filing. And I was planning to leave at 6PM cos there was NAFA assessment and we couldn't be late.
I ended up sneaking away at 6.30PM when the kids were having flag lowering. :(
Misfortune #2 -- I missed the bus and the next 48 will take about 18 mins. -.- Ended up hailing a cab.
Misfortune #3 -- I told cabbie that I wanna go to NAFA/南洋美专/Nanyang academy of fine arts and he has no idea where. So he told me to guide and tell him the route. Excuse me sir, but there's a reason why I didn't learn driving.
Misfortune #4 -- Being illiterate on roads, I told him its at Bugis. THEN HE HEARD UBI AND TOOK A WRONG TURN. So we had to u-turn back and wait for another 2 or 3 traffic lights. -.- And he kept saying sorry and assured that he hasn't start the meter yet. Okay fine, I forgive him.
Misfortune #5 -- He kept talking to me. Okay lah this one not really some suay thing but I don't like to talk to cab uncles. That time I cabbed with Julian and he did all the talking.
Misfortune #5 (not counting the one above) -- There was a massive jam on the expressway. Nuff said.
Misfortune #6 -- My cab fare was $20.02. Uncle charged me $20 obviously, which included peak hour surcharge, ERP fee and the stupid jam. :( It could've been 71 cents...

Okay anyway, I managed to reach the class safely and ranted to Joey about it. And here are the photos:
How this idea came about: Well the title of this project is that we can make anything that rocks. Conventionally a rocking chair, but we could think out of the box. I thought of a rocking horse, since it's cute and it rocks, but I don't like horses (sorry melia) so I came up with a rocking rabbit instead. Kinda got the basic design online but I modified it quite a bit. :)
This was before painting it. I kinda like the natural wooden color, but there were flaws here and there which needed to be covered. With paint.

These were after the paint job. Obviously I got it painted pink haha. Goodness, this rocking rabbit took don't know how many hours to make :O It's crazy. But I like how it turned out. :) I painted a flower design, spontaneously and free hand, on the sides of the rocking rabbit so it wouldn't be that boring.
My final grade was a B, and honestly I was a teeny weeny upset... BUT, Clifford explained the reason, which was because my backrest bar and the rabbit's head were kinda crooked. These problems I already knew during the making of this model so yup I wasn't sad anymore after knowing that haha. At least I got marked down on stuff that I'm aware of. :P
After lesson we went to Merely Ice-cream for supper. :D They got Joey to join us but Clifford didn't want to. :( I bought double-scoop -- strawberry and chocolate stout. Not bad actually. :D It was Edith's treat though (eh but I didn't order double scoop cos she was treating okay, she mentioned after I ordered, regardless, thanks Edith!). After that I went back with Pan. :) No work on Fridayyyy.
That's it! Next post will be on... Bugis Street shopping with cong and my color perspectives drawings. :)
I need to get this off my mind. I FREAKING HATE THE ARMY.
I was just thinking about it just now, and I just realized how sucky it is to serve the nation. What makes it right that the Singaporean boys should be responsible for the lives of the rest of us living in Singapore? Shouldn't we all be responsible for our own's? You know what, I'd rather everyone in the army go back home and spend all their time with their loved ones, and if we get attacked, then we'll all just die together. At least I'll die with my love, then shouldering the guilt of having your boy dying somewhere else trying to protect people (ie. YOU). I know its really selfish to think of it this way, and that most people out there will disagree with me. Yea. I'm selfish.
i'm selfish because I cannot stand looking forward to weekends when bb hardly has anytime to spend with me and his family.
I'm selfish because I get upset and it's not bb's fault cos he can't help it. And I cannot and will not blame him.
I'm selfish because bb hasn't slept on his own bed for 3 weeks and he misses it badly.
I'm selfish because I feel so bad having to steal the time which he could've spent with his family cos I'm sure they miss their boy as much as I do.
I thought I could survive this. Actually I can, with the help of a bit of ranting from time to time. Okay I'm done here. Sorry for being selfish, and I will continue hating the army till they return bb back to me.

What I'm up to lately:

- Desperate Housewives
Yes I'm still watching. Currently at Season 4 Episode 8. It's really funny and I love the show haha. :)

- University Application
I have accepted NTU's ADM! :D I feel like a genius rejecting NUS (only dumb people will have such feelings ah whatever). Anyway, I really wanna go for my passion. I mean if I really can't get a proper job next time then 省着点. Not like my expenditure is that outrageous. :) I WILL SURVIVE.
Settling hall stuff with Miranda now. She's gonna be my roomie. It feels so exciting -- cool school (physically and syllabus-wise), awesome room mate, fun course... What more can I ask for. ^^

- My job
Two more days till one month of rest. :) Yay I still have June hols! Neh neh to all friends out there who are working adults. So fun luh, teachers still have june holiday. :D Not sure if I need to go back in Term 3 week 1. I'd better go confirm tomorrow.

- NAFA course
Yes yes pictures soon. Assessment week this week, so no lessons. Slack max and can go home early. But I'd rather have lessons luh... Waste my school fees. I'm a poor student. Anyway I'm not sure if I'm continuing the advance course now. It's another $1k. :( It's either now, or 4 years later after I finish my uni education luh.

- Squad outing
Yea I need to plan squad outing, which I already did. Check Facebook!

- Other crap
Oh I made my own video/photo montage on iMovie last night (which explains why I slept so late). Not bad leh. I'm proud of myself haha!
Okay that's about it. I am going to sleep soon. Night!

Ohhh I'm so addicted to Alex Goot. No idea how I found him but since that day I've been using his covers as background music whenever I use the computer.
HE IS SOOOO GOOOOOODDD. Like while you listen to his songs you'll wanna pounce on him and make babies to populate the world with talented people like him. Yea it's just an expression lah obviously I have no intentions of giving birth. But yea, that's how awesome he is.
He's kinda awkward though. Awkward nerd. Not quite photogenic and he's not very funny but oh sweet jesus he's so darn attractive when he sings. <3

EHH I'M GETTING OLD. I DIDN'T KNOW I'VE BLOGGED ABOUT THE CAKE ALREADY -.-
Alright, quick post to update on what I've been up to lately. And I owe picnic photos heh. :P
(Wow I'm blogging using the new Blogger. It's a little confusing but the functions are super cool oh my.)
------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Picnic at Marina Barrage
Well it wasn't exactly a picnic, as in we didn't prepare food but instead we bought from some supermarket. (Actually I don't remember why we went there for a picnic...) Anyway, it was Julian's first time to Marina Barrage so we had a quick tour in the visitor's centre.
Brought my MacBook there so we could take photos and videos haha so noob. We chose a spot next to a concrete seat so we can easily take photos by placing the cam on it. :D
Yay love this photo! Our Everlast shoes from Taiwan. :D
Ew I swear my hair color faded to some sort of brown... :(

- NAFA Interior Design lessons
Ahhh last 2 weeks of lesson. I'm gonna miss my classmates... :( Maybe I'll take up the advance course, though likely it'll overlap with uni school days... See first luh. I'll post pictures of drawings of the living room, kitchen and bedroom. Oh and my rocking rabbit haha. Assessment next week!!!

- Julian's Birthday Surprise!
Came up with the idea of baking Julian a birthday cake (I must have been possessed when this idea struck me) and thought of giving him the entire cake to share with his family (add intoxicated and drunk to being possessed). Never baked a cake myself in my entire life. I have no idea where the bravery came from. Anyway back to the cake, I bought those instant cake mix from NTUC and wanted to make a rainbow cake. Been very obsessed with rainbow colors lately.
Mixed all the colors from my 3 primary color food coloring. Well actually not exactly cos my mum didn't buy red so I made do with pink, blue and yellow.
Finally, my 6 layers of cake was done baking after 2 plus hours. Made my own white chocolate frosting from an online recipe. Cut down the amount of sugar but it was still too sweet ugh. :(
Ta-da! Final product. decorated with colorful chocolate sprinkles and M&Ms. ^^ Ultra gay *inserts gay seal image* but it was still edible (Thank god if not I really don't know how to face his family anymore).

- University Posting Results
Got into NTU's ADM and NUS's architecture!! :D I'm proud of myself haha. Anyway, likely I'll choose ADM cos:
(1) I've made plans to room with Miranda already! :D
(2) School fees are cheaper.
(3) My interest lies in art.
(4) My NAFA classmate advised me not to take NUS arch since their dropout rates are quite high and she, being a student of SUTD arch, said that arch is really hiong and she's gonna die soon haha.
(5) Another NAFA classmate who works at an arch firm as an arch assistant said her job is really boring.
(6) Cong said arch degree is one of the most useless one (according to some website luh).
Oleh! Now I'm so excited for uni life. Finally gonna do something fun. Hm that's what we've all been working for after 12 years of education hor?

- Lunch @ Marche (Somerset 313)
Julian had the craving so we settled Saturday lunch there. So awesome luh I love Marche and thank you Julian for introducing me to it.
Smoked salmon rosti. Omg I didn't know smoked salmon is so cool. It looked raw but tasted completely cooked... *Mother of god*. I'm gonna learn how to cook rosti. It's too awesome.
Minced beef with red onion pizza. I would prefer if it's pan pizza, but it was still awesome. A little too big though. :P Oh and we order a german sausage and a bottle of sparkling apple juice. Nom nom~ ^^

- Good deals
After Marche, we walked to Plaza Sing. Went to Bata to get shoes but they didn't have my size, so while I was walking out, I decided to try on the floral heels which I've been eyeing for quite some time. Usual price was $42.95 so I thought I'll just try for fun. Turned out it was on sale for a freaking $19!!! Julian said they probably have no sizes since it was on sale. It must be fated cos size 36 is available and lalala that pair of heels is now mine!
Holy, it's so pretty and CHEAP! Wore for mother's day dinner that night since it matched my floral dress. Not bad, it was quite comfy and easy to walk. :D ME GUSTA.

- My job
Well, last 2 weeks at work! This reminds me, I need to tell the lady in the General Office. But probably I'll work for 1 more week in Term 3 Week 1 cos the next teacher could only start teaching in July.

- DIY Accessories!
I made quite a few rings and bracelets from cheap materials. Some were learnt from online tutorials, while others were made based on my creativity. Okay not exactly... I stole a lot of ideas from the booths at Orchard Central haha. I made Julian dare me to make those. :P Talking about creativity, I bought this activity notebook from Smiggle at 313. Super cute. I will blog about it and post photos when I start filling in the stuff. :)

- Desperate Housewives
Addiction. I don't know why I'm adding drama to my peaceful life, but I'm loving this series. I'm halfway through Season 3 now! :D
John Rowland Y U SO SEXY.
Anyway, I find great satisfaction when Gabrielle has sex with John. Well, generally when good-looking people have sex. It's like "Woah it looks so perfect. They are gonna have pretty babies." Then I'll feel damn happy with the show haha. Obviously I'm not enjoying how explicit the sex scenes are lahhh.
Talking about sex scenes, the girls are always (and I mean ALWAYS) wearing their bras while copulating. Seriously... I doubt people do that in real life.
Shall continue with the show on Friday night. These few weeks are so busy, settling all the admin stuff/ grading for the children's artworks etc. :/
(Oh oh, because of John Rowland, I shall change the people in my celebrity foursome. Hm let's see... Obviously Zac will stay... So lets change the other two to John Rowland and Mike Delfino haha. Ask Google for their photos ;) Aiyo why angmohs so hot! )

- Cameras
Julian bought a lomo camera that came with a waterproof casing which enables you to take photos underwater for $17 plus a film that can take 36 photos. So vintage and retro haha. I helped him to order on GMarket. The color is awesome too! Nice lime green. :)
And I bought a wide instax camera. The photos turned out great, but the camera looks fat and bulky, like a clumsy gorilla, in addition to the fact that its black. D: Anyway, shhhh about this.

- Online buys
Kept buying stuff online in late April. I was like super addicted to GMarket cos they sell such cheap stuff. Here's the list of things I bought (actually its not a lot compared to some other people... But it's still a lot for me so bear with it):
(1) 88 matte color eye shadow palette - great reviews plus great price :)
(2) Fimo strips - Well they were cheap and I kinda wanted to try...
(3) Secret - haha ;D
(4) Lomo waterproof camera - As mentioned above.
(5) Nail dotting tool - I've been looking for them in nail stores but couldn't find.
Yup and I bought some clothes from LoveBonito and Threadless. Got my t-shirts today! So happy. :) Okay I don't know if I missed out anything. Whatever luh. Oh I spent $109 on soft toys. BUT I LOVE THEM.

- YouTube talents
In love with Alex Goot. His voice is like soothing yet strong. He made all trashy songs sound nice omg. Check him out! I'm listening to his songs as I typed this entire post out. Oh my I took like an hour already... By the way, his nerdy-ness is attractive. 8)

Reminder: Post photos for DIY Accessories, NAFA assignments and Mothers' Day. :) Sorry for all the 9gag references in this post. I'm an avid 9gagger haha. Okay I AM DONE. Goodnight!

Tuesday, May 08, 2012

Okay let me attempt to blog now, while I'm on bus 48 on the way to NAFA. :P
Last Friday, I attempted to bake a cake for Julian's birthday. Bought this instant cake thingy from NTUC and they've already mixed all the flour and stuff for you and all you need to add are water, oil and eggs.
Decided to make a rainbow cake with distinct layers so I divided the batter into 6 portions. Mixed all the colors from pink, blue and yellow food coloring. :)
I spent about 2 hours plus baking, until like 2AM cos each layer took about 25 minutes. :O
Frosting was made using sugar, butter, white chocolate, vanilla essence and a pinch of salt. I cut down the amount of sugar suggested on the online recipe but it still ended up too sweet.
Oh well overall it was a... Um success? The cake was nice but the frosting was way tooooooo sweet that it kinda tasted gross. :( Sorry Julian and family!
Now time for some pics. The decoration was really gay though but honestly it didn't look too bad haha. Plus the cake definitely has inner beauty (literally). ;)

Sunday, April 29, 2012

I really should be sleeping now, but I've just finished two romance movies and I'm feeling this surge of emotions so I shall blog about stuff and quickly turn in.
Just wanna say that I'm really thankful for everything that I have now. I'm really fortunate. I got into a course where my passion lies in in uni; I have a university to go to even though my results aren't really that good; I get to attend NAFA courses which some people may not be able to afford; I have a supportive family who appreciates my artistic abilities; I have great squadmates who I can tell everything to and hang out with; I have the best boyfriend I could ever ask for; I have a boyfriend who is also my best friend; I have the best colleagues at work; I have friends, family and a home. I really hate myself for ever taking things for granted. Thank you world, for giving me such a wonderful life. I'll truly appreciate it and live it to the fullest so I'll never die with any regrets. :') ❤❤❤
And thank you to every single person who ever loved/ is still loving me. ❤

Will I receive any handmade gift on 19 May...?
